KEATON DONIGER
LICENSED MARRIAGE + FAMILY THERAPIST #160250
about me
I work with adults, teens and couples in Los Angeles to transform their suffering, grief and shame into empowerment and embodiment.
Each of us already possess all the wisdom we need to have our most satisfying, meaningful life. It’s just buried beneath a lot of confusing messages and unresolved pain. I am here to stand by you and help you reclaim all of your shades of feeling. I believe even the most distressing emotion has a role, but its purpose may only reveal itself with consistent nurturing in the kind of safe relationship we will build.
Together, we will work through and release trauma-based survival strategies to reclaim your sense of intrinsic goodness and hope. At times, the growth process feels uplifting and exciting; at other times it is intense, painful… even overwhelming.
This is all appropriate and welcomed in our space.
I emphasize self possession rather than self control; as we learn to attune all the feelings inside us, we get to respond to life in complete ownership of our true selves.
My style is warm, direct and above all, human. You are the expert on your experience, I am here to collaborate with you toward your goals and mirror aspects of you that might be shadowed. I weave together “traditional” therapy dialogue with mindfulness and body-based modalities— including a fair amount of laughter!
I welcome you to learn more about some of my areas of speciality, here.
background
I have been practicing since 2020 and have sat with adults, teens, children, couples, and parents navigating a wide variety of issues and life circumstances . Prior to opening my private practice, I gained extensive clinical experience at Women’s Clinic Counseling Center, where I worked with people of all ages navigating complex trauma, grief, depression and severe anxiety during the height of the covid-19 pandemic.
My education is both academic and holistic: I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies from University of Southern California; a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University as well as certifications in nutrition, yoga and somatic experiencing.
